MUEH Brewingは宮古島に生まれた醸造所。MUEH(ムエー)は「模合」という相互扶助の文化と喜びの声とを掛け合わせて名付けられた。あま井で地下水を汲んできた歴史を持つ宮古島でクラフトビールをつくる意味。島民が自らで産業を持ち、人が集まる場所をつくる意義。その精神性に私たちは「飾らないこと」で応えようと考えた。木は木のまま。石は石のまま。ありのままがうつくしいこと。それがこの島の背景と強い日差しに似合う在り方だと感じた。空間全体はツートーンの構成になっており、醸造場の中に飲食空間がインフィルされ、つくる人と飲む人が一体感を感じながら過ごすことができる。この島そのものである宮古島トラバーチンがクラフトビールと共に並ぶ景色は島の未来の静かな表明。「宮古島の石垣のように皆が集まって乾杯する様」MUEH Brewingのロゴのようにこの場所に喜びが集うことを心待ちにしている。

MUEH Brewing is a brewery founded on Miyako Island. The name “MUEH” is a combination of “Moai”—a culture of mutual aid—and the sound of joy. The significance of brewing craft beer on Miyako Island, a place with a history of drawing groundwater from “Amaga” wells. The importance of islanders establishing their own industry and creating a place where people gather. We decided to embody that spirit through “honesty.” Wood remains wood. Stone remains stone. Beauty lies in authenticity. We felt this was the approach that best suited the island’s background and its intense sunlight. The entire space features a two-tone design, with the dining area integrated into the brewery, allowing those who brew and those who drink to spend time together while feeling a sense of unity. The sight of Miyako Island travertine—which embodies the island itself—standing alongside craft beer is a quiet statement of the island’s future. “Just as people gather to toast around Miyako Island’s stone walls,” we eagerly await the moment when joy gathers here, just as it does in the MUEH Brewing logo.
