赤坂の高台に建つ集合住宅の一室。南東に面した角部屋で日当たりの良さがポテンシャルの高さを物語っていた。窓から見える街並みは風格のある建築と大小さまざまな緑地で上質さとリラックスした雰囲気が漂っている。 私たちはこの部屋をより良くするために3つのことを話し合った。街並みの雰囲気を加味してマテリアルを選び直すこと。それぞれの室に分かれていたLDKをワンルームにまとめて開放的な空間にすること。そしてエントランスから主寝室の扉が見えてしまうことについて再考した。 街並みの雰囲気とマテリアルを繋ぐことは日々の生活からノイズを減らしてくれるように思う。カウンタートップに選定したビスクというコーリアンは白の中でもミルキーなあたたかみがあり表面の透明な層が奥行と上質さを感じさせる。紅茶のような色合いのウォールナットにも表面に薄い透明な層があり吸いつくような質感で、木目のビンテージを思わせる風合いがクラシックな建築とよく馴染んだ。 ワンルームにまとめたLDKの天井には段差の印象を和らげるように曲面を用いた。曲面のディテールは大梁を跨いで連続し空間の繋がりを強調している。主寝室の扉はエントランスに近いことを逆手に取って来客を迎え入れるファサードようにデザインし、扉と壁を同素材かつフラットに納め、2連のブラケットライトをアクセントにウェルカムな表情をつくることができた。 言葉にするとひとつひとつは小さな工夫の断片だが空間の中で関係し合うことで視覚的な静けさと上質なあたたかみを生みだしている。それはまどろんだ空気のようで日当たりのよいこの部屋をやさしく包み込んでいる。

A unit in an apartment building perched on the hills of Akasaka. This corner unit facing southeast boasted excellent sunlight, hinting at its high potential. The view from the windows reveals a neighborhood characterized by dignified architecture and green spaces of varying sizes, exuding an atmosphere of quality and relaxation. To enhance this space, we discussed three key points: rethinking material choices to better reflect the neighborhood’s character; merging the previously separate living, dining, and kitchen areas into one open-plan space; and reconsidering the visibility of the master bedroom door from the entrance. Connecting the street’s ambiance with materials seemed to reduce daily life’s noise. The Corian countertop, selected in Bisque, offered a milky warmth within its white hue, while its transparent surface layer suggested depth and quality. The tea-colored walnut flooring also featured a thin transparent layer, creating an almost velvety texture. Its vintage-like grain pattern harmonized beautifully with the classic architecture. The ceiling of the combined living-dining-kitchen space employs curved surfaces to soften the impression of level changes. These curved details span the main beam, creating continuity and emphasizing the spatial connection. The master bedroom door, positioned near the entrance, was designed to function as a welcoming façade. By using the same material for the door and wall and finishing them flush, paired with dual bracket lights as accents, we achieved a welcoming expression. While each element described may seem like a small detail, their interplay within the space generates visual tranquility and a refined warmth. It envelops this sunlit room like a drowsy air, gently embracing it.
